Connectivity through firewalls
Our server offers excellent connectivity if you are behind a restrictive firewall. The standard TCP port for XMPP is 5222, many firewalls only allow connections to ports 80 and 443 (that is, HTTP and HTTPS respectively). Our server also provides connectivity through port 443, so you should be able to connect in most firewall-restricted networks.
Browser-based clients
If you use a client in your browser (often called a "webclient"), you can connect to xmpp.zone using BOSH (XEP-0206: XMPP over BOSH, also known as HTTP Binding) or Websockets (see RFC 7395). Both are used by web-based clients and some normal clients also support it directly. Both methods use standard HTTPS and should pass through any firewall. We fully conform to XEP-0156, so many clients should be able to automatically discover alternative connection methods. If you need to configure them manually, the URLs are:
- BOSH: https://jabber.at/http-bind/
- Websockets: https://jabber.at/ws/
